A couple of Wild Turkeys after breakfast!
We saw lots of wild turkeys, and even some with baby turkeys!
We got gas at 7:52am, mileage 7064.1

Pretty Michigan
Lon at the first rest stop in America! There were just porta potty things there. There is nothing fancy. Sadly
Skittish roadside deer.
We stopped at the Welcome center for the Ottawa National Forest. It was a wonderful little spot. There was a ton of information on the forest
They had some information on the local Natives too. How they lived with the seasons, etc.
They had all the critters there too.
This cracked Lon up.
A Wisconsin Dairy Farm
We stopped at a road side stand and picked up some wild rice and maple syrup. As much as I wanted to pick up a ton of cheeses, it would not be wonderful by the time we got home. It stayed at the stand.
In Lake Superior!  We did it! We have stood in all 5 of the Great Lakes! Lon knows them all, and can name every one of them!
playing in the lake!
We are at Bayview Park in Ashland, Wisconsin
Run, run run! Even in the water!
There was a small park with play equipment. Lon got to play for a little while to stretch out his legs!
We stopped at the Northern Great Lakes Visitors Center. It was a beautiful place.
They had alot to see, touch and learn there
Learning about what lives in the waters
LUNCH!
Lon is pretty happy about it!
We stopped at 11:57!
They brought us our root beer in big frosty mugs
Lon enjoyed his ice cream sundae too!  The A&W is located in Iron River, Wisconsin
We got gas too! No, for the car!
Mileage: 7277.7
7.25 gallons @ $3.68
After a detour, we went across the bridge into Duluth, Minnesota!

Our stop in Duluth was at the Great Lakes Maritime Museum.  It is run by the Army Corps of Engineers.
And it is free.
They have alot of wonderful stuff there!  Three stories of goodies
A steam engine part
Looking at the exhibit on the Edmund Fitzgerald.  Lon has learned alot about the ship wrecks of the great lakes.
Lots and lots of ship models to see.  Lon looked at all of them
Daddy showing Lon where we were and what part of the Great Lakes we saw
More chances to practice his boat driving skills
Daddy showing Lon some of the ports of the Great Lakes
Watching a Great Lakes Freighter come through the Arial Bridge.
It was a HUGE ship.
Trying to pull an anchor
On our way out of Duluth, we stopped at the Welcome Center.  We needed to get a paper map of Minnesota!
The view from the welcome center
We had a nice long conversation with this dog! Yes, we were stopped. We were stopped for about 2 hours. Well, almost all stopped. It was very very very slow. It took 24 minutes to go 1 mile. Our GPS wanted to know if we should switch to pedestrian mode.  Great.
The Cathedral in Saint Paul, MN.
The Mississippi River.
Not sure why this is near the side of the road, but Lon was THRILLED to see it
Pancakes for dinner! We stopped at Albert Lea, MN for the night.  We had dinner at Trumble's.
Minnesota sunset
We filled up the car:
Mileage: 7542.8
11.41 gallons @ $3.56
