Day 28: Niantic

Today was mainly spent in Niantic. It was a fun day!
We started our day at the book barn! We LOVE the book barn. Why, yes, I did go to the post office again today!
Showing Daddy the play area
The pirate ship
The lonely goat seems undisturbed by the thunder.
It was starting to rain. Since Mark had to go to the downtown location to find the Sci-Fi section, we thought that might be fun. We were going to wait out the rain. Mark did not find his book, but in the mystery overflow section, I found a couple in the new series I am reading!  When we went back to the car, a lady came out of the bakery to tell us some woman in an SUV backed into the car. She got out, looked at our car, then roared away. No note. Nothing. Luckily, there was no damage I could see. Just some paint transfer. When I think of a good snarky comment for her I will put it in here

After lunch, we did get down to the beach!
Watching the boats way out there
The sand was much more fun than the water!
Lon did play in the water for a bit. No, that is not the light. Mark really is that sunburnt.  He got that in New Hampshire.
Did not stop him from swimming out to the raft
Other than looking like a lobster, he looks really good!
From the beach, we went home and got cleaned up a little bit. We met up with Mark's Dad at Michael's Dairy. They do have really good ice cream. Lon did not lose his ice cream, it was in the bowl. He was just unsure about the cone.
Maureen, Lon and Grandpa Bob
While the old people talked, Lon ran around in the field
On the way back to Niantic, we took the shore road. Driving right by our lighthouse! There is no shore access to it.
Pretty pictures
A swan getting a snack
Patches, the neighbor cat introducing herself. She is very soft and friendly. When Mark and I ran out to the drug store for some more aloe, we saw her again. We also saw a skunk waddling around. I hope she had enough sense to stay away!
Time for dinner. We went out to the Main Street Grille in Niantic. It was very nice, we got to eat outside in under the covered porch. Right near the railroad tracks! There were about 6 trains that roared through.  This first one caught Lon by surprise when it tooted the horn!
Lon wanted me to get this photo of him eating his fish. He did a great job on it.  There were some great danes in a van in the parking lot. The doors were open, and everyone was stopping by to see them.  They were so pretty. I was not sure I could take pictures of them since there were show dogs on their way to make more show dogs.
Lon found the molten chocolate cake on the dessert menu! He loves those. He ate most of it too!
It was a fun day.
Lon had a great time
