Trick or Treating!

The kids were not very interested in their dinner, they wanted to GO! and GO NOW.

We made them wait till at least 6:05

Trying to convince me that now would be a good time to go out.

This is his third costume for this year.

Out in the neighborhood

I had to go up and see some of our neighbors!
This broom goes around by itself on little tiny wheels.  SO cool!

I did not get photos of any of the wonderful little people that came to our door. This year we had about 143 kids.  A little more than last year. We have very little candy left. Well, candy I pre bought.

This is Lon's candy haul. He got a TON of candy.

Starting the sorting

Sadly, at 9pm I took everything down. I do not leave the inflatables up over night. I forgot to get a photo of the house all lit up at night. We did get a fun light from the hardware store, it put dancing skeletons on the side of the house.

While I was taking down the decorations, Lon watched  A Nightmare Before Christmas.  Fun Movie.

It was a great time this Halloween!
Hope you all had a wonderful time too!

Getting Ready!

The lights for the guide wires of the pumpkin

Jack came over to help out too

Lon wanted to plug in the cat, so I let him.

The cat had some split seams this year, so we did some quick duct tape repairs and he was good to go!

With the cat!

They seem to love the cat

Every year with the pumpkin. Lon is just barely taller than the pumpkin.
According to the strip at Home Depot, Lon is 4 foot 10 inches tall.

The Yis came over for dinner before Trick or Treat. I made the kids mummy dogs!  Hot dogs wrapped in dough strips then baked.
I had Halloween cupcakes for dessert.

Halloween Haircut

Lon was looking a little shaggy. He even said that his pillow case was scratchy because his hair was too long.

Lon reading about Pluto, the planet, not the Disney Dog, while waiting for his haircut

He looks so small in that chair

This barber works super fast. Lon was done before Dad, even though Dad started before.

Good Looking Boy!

Halloween Breakfast!

I have not pulled out the pancake molds in a long time. I am going to try to use them more often  !

We got the batter into the molds, and dotted them with mini chocolate chips!  Lon's favorite

I got them out of the molds! It worked! I was worried about that

Plated.  Lon had bacon too.

Moments before they are all gone.

We need to make fun pancakes more often

Pre Halloween Fun

Things got a little but busy and we did not have time to do the full treatment of the wagon, but it will do.

 Side one

The star glows in the dark

Drawing the face on the pumpkin

I asked him if he wanted to use a pre made design or his own. He wanted to use his own face design.

Working on the little pumpkins.  We have some really fun push in decorations. We thought about getting a mickey mouse one, but since it is so close to Halloween we are going to wait to see if it goes on sale soon!

He was having a great time making the little pumpkins

All his creations.  Yoda and Vader are going to have an epic light saber battle tomorrow.

Book Character Parade

This is Lon's last Book Character Parade at Spann!    He wanted to be a character from a book series he was reading, and he needed a tunic or a cloak. Not a cape.  I had enough felt to make the tunic yesterday.

Starting with the Administration!

I almost did not recognize him!

Captain Mickey Austin!

Lon!
Yes, it is a little blurry, it is not your eyes

Couldn't resist one more!

This is such a fun thing they do at Spann!

Halloween Pack

Monday night was the Halloween cub scout pack meeting.  This year Lon did not go as a cub scout or even a Webelo!

We got there a little early. Running off some extra energy

There were some fun costumes.  Lon went as Anger.

Trying hard to pay attention.

Lon still loves Boy Scouts.

Apple Cider Doughnuts

When we got home from West Farm, I realized what was missing from our great day!
Apple Cider Doughnuts. Every pumpkin patch, cider mill, corn maze we went to in New England had Apple Cider Doughnuts.  There were none here

So we made some.

I found a recipe and more or less followed it

Mark helped by rolling them in cinnamon sugar

I think I may have fried them a touch too long, next time I won't fry them as long and they will be much better.

Not that they were bad

West Farm Corn Maze

Today after church we went out to the West Farm Corn Maze!

Playing on the tractor tires never gets old

King of the tires!

Jump down

Corn Maze Fun!

There were 12 stations to find

Each station had a hole punch and you punched out the number on your card

They ran out of the hidden mystery game cards.

We found all 12 stations. The course was 3 miles if you did not get turned around or lost. We think we may have done closer to 4 miles.

Hello Goaty Goat!

This cute baby is a lab and sharpe mix. Or so they think. Lon would love to have a puppy.
Maybe someday.

We had a great time!
