Red Ribbon Assembly

I got a flyer a few days ago from school saying there was going to be a Red Ribbon Assembly at school. I did not realize what big doings it was going to be.  They said some police would be there and a surprise "person". This event was HUGE. There were DEA agents there, canine units, hazmat units, police cars, motorcycles and an Astar! LOTS of things going on!
The kids had to start off in their class rooms then go out to the parking lot.  The parents who stayed for the assembly were waiting in the parking lot. I am really glad it was not raining!
McGruff, the crime dog, was introduced as going old school. Way back to the 80s. I felt very old
The special "person" turned out to be Blitz! The Seahawk! High energy bird! Lon is right in front of Blitz getting a high five.
McGruff greeted all the kids too
The Astar flys over! Later on, the helicopter landed out in the field!

The kids all went inside to hear the talks and watch the movies. Staying drug free is the goal! Anna kept looking back at me and waving
The trucks and cars were moved around while we were all inside. They were all open and the officers were explaining everything to the kids. Answered all questions. They were very nice
The K-9s. Lilly and Cory. Lilly is the lab and she is 6.  Cory is 2 1/2 and a German Shepard.
Badge Guy
This is the only way I would like to see Lon getting out of the back of a police car!
A little one and one with McGruff
The Astar. It was fun looking at it.  Lon said he would rather take a ride than look at it.  Well, so would I!
All done. I had just enough time to go home, charge the camera a bit. It was running out of batteries. Then go pick up Lon and get on with our next adventure!
