DC Adventure Day 1

We decided to go see DC!
We left early on Tuesday morning!
Yes, it was 5:30 in the morning and it was already 84! YIPES!

We wanted to get an early start so we could have some fun too!

Gorgeous sunrise

We went to Aunt Karen's,  dropped off our stuff, raided their fridge and hitched a ride to Ford's theater.   Or something like that

The Rangers were ohhing and awing over Lon's badges. He loves the attention.

Working on the booklet. He could do 5 activities to get his badge, or 7 to get a badge and a patch.  Lon did 8.

Listening to the Ranger Talk.  He gave us a wonderful history of the theater and the assassination of President Lincoln.

This is the front bedroom, Lincoln was not laid here.    There is not much original furniture.   When the Peterson's died, their children sold off the contents of the house. Even listing some of it as Lincoln assassination memorabilia.  Some pieces made their way back, but the biggest item, Lincoln's death bed, found it's way to the Chicago Museum of History.

I thought the wall paper was beautiful.

You leave the Peterson House into the Education Center.  This stack of books is a copy of all the books written about Lincoln.  The Bible is the most books in print, the second most written about subject is Lincoln.

Those small figures down there are adult people.

Lon said it made him dizzy to look at.

Finishing the booklet.

Our tour was great, the line was short at the time we went over to the Peterson House.

Lon had a great time!

Lon and I thought we would take a little bit of a walk before heading back to Aunt Karen's house.

This Church was beautiful

This  building is now a Forever 21 store, but they restored the facade of the original store from the 1920s.

A bit of detail

We went out to dinner at a good Mexican place.

Then it was time to call it a night. I am not sure Lon and I were awake too much after our heads hit the pillow.
