Field Trip to the Zoo

On Friday, I was lucky enough to be a volunteer on Lon's field trip to Woodland Park Zoo. We had wonderful weather.  We took a school bus over to the zoo. Second time we were on a bus.
Waiting for everyone to finish using the restrooms. The tree was a source of wonderful source of fun for boys
Our little group.  We had four kids and two adults. Anna's Mom, Lon, Anna, Maksym, and Katie made up our group.
Checking out the signage for the hippo
  • Watching the young lady lion. She looked like she wanted to play, she had a toy in her mouth. We decided that she should play with another lion and not a little person.
  • Another statue to climb on. The kids liked them, alot
  • Watching the elephant. She looked like she wanted to spray the kids. That would have been lots of fun, but it did not happen. We saw how she got water into her mouth, that was pretty cool.
  • What are they watching? They watched it for a while...
  • MEERKATS! So Cute. Lon asked to use the little camera, and I let him. Sadly, he got jostled and the camera dropped onto a rock. It is now toast.  We are looking into getting a new one.
  • Penguins! The crane was waiting for feeding time too
  • The Seagull, the crane and the penguin
  • The boat! Lon loves the boat at the penguin exhibit. He could play there for hours
  • One last statue. They had fun climbing on them.
Watching the Tiger, they were awake the second time we walked by
  • At the flamingos. They were not really sure what I was telling them was right. That flamingos turn pink because they eat shrimp!
  • Petting the goats. We love goats!
  • Run! Gotta go see something before we have to leave
  • Watching the dinosaur. They have a new dinosaur exhibit. Sadly, the rules said we can not spend anymore on the kids. The dinosaur exhibit was an additional 2 dollars.  The good news is that the Woodland Park zoo is starting a free shuttle to the zoo this summer. We probably will be using that to go back to the zoo. We will spend time at the dinosaur exhibit and the boat.
