Chatham Manor-Wednesday's House

After the morning naps were finished, the family went to Chatham Manor. It is run by the Park Service now and is close to Fredericksburg. I thought about going to Monticello, however, it was a good thing we looked on line. Tickets for the week were already sold out. It would have been a shame to go all the way down there and not been able to see anything.
Chatham was in Colonial Times and the Civil War. They have not put any furniture back into the house as they are in discussions about how the house should be presented. Should the room be as it was when George Washington slept in it or should it be as the Civil War Hospital? People are passionate about both, so the house is filled with placards and some cases with artifacts.

The grounds are filled with gardens. It is really nice.

Lon in the Baby Bjorn. Since he is so skinny, he can still fit in the bjorn. Made house tours so much easier. He is only about 19 pounds. Still.

All of us at the back of the house. One of the Park Rangers took the picture for us. She also told us about the house and grounds.

Looking over the Rappahanock and Fredericksburg from Chatham.

We spent a long time walking around looking at the grounds and the house. It was enjoyable. Lon had a good time. He is really showing his parents alot about the history of this country.
