Baking for the weekend

I am posting the cakes and cupcakes I made for the weekend's festivities

These are the cupcakes I made for St; Theresa's bake sale. The ghosts and pumpkins are white chocolate. I made those too.  Turned out so cute!

Happy Birthday, Ty!

We parted company with Mark, Debi and Dave because Lon and I were going to Ty's birthday party!

Julie did a ton of work! It looked amazing!

Julie had put up little emeralds all over the house, with double sided tape. They had to collect them for this game.

Lon won this one with 29 emeralds.

A Visit from Cousin Debi!

Last night Cousin Debi stopped by on her way back home. It was great seeing her!

We started the day at the Summerville Farmer's Market.

The grits mill.  Fresh ground grits and cornmeal.

I also found that Anson Mills is selling small packages of rice and grits. This is going to be on our Christmas list.

Lon stopped to pet this Newfoundland puppy (yes, it is still a puppy!) and this nice lady tried to give us three cats.  We said no, not at this time!

After the market, we were off to the Fall Festival at St. Theresa's!

Flight Sim!  Lon had a blast. He took off well, flew well and then, well, landing is not his strong suit yet.


After the festival, Lon and I went home and Debi, David and Mark went to downtown Charleston.

We met back up for a fun dinner at Kelly's barbecue.  We met up with one of Lon's friends there too and he and Lon talked about boy things during dinner.

We went to dinner at Italian Cucina. It is near the Piggly Wiggly, they have new owners, and the food is wonderful!

Lon got a pepperoni pizza with fresh basil.

It is amazing that no one messes with any of the scarecrow displays. Everything seems to stay where it is for all to enjoy.

Spann Elementary!

The scarecrows were mainly dentists, real estate, and schools. It is fun to see what they come up with every year. I love the pumpkins painted like globes for Spann. Those are great

Field Trip To Isle of Palms

This morning was the 5th grade field trip. It was rescheduled because of the flooding.

Isle of Palms.  It was cooler this morning, in the lower 60s.  A good breeze. A great day to be at the beach!

The first thing the class had to do was build an island. Not just a circle in the sand.  It had to be 3D.  Lon built a volcano

After the class made the waves on only one side of their island, and learned about how sand is moved around the barrier islands, they had to flatten the islands.
Then they were on to the next assignment!

They were going to search for living things
 With a partner a shovel and a sieve.

They had to go out into the wash to find any living things they could. They were not allowed to go out past ankle deep water.  No one did, they all listened

They did not find any living thing. They had fun looking

Then it was time to get their shoes on and go to the park, eat lunch and burn off some energy!

I did not take Lon home with me after the trip, even though it was about 2pm.  He had recorder class after school.

Leaving Disney, Going Back Home

Monday morning. Lon slept in till about 9:30. I got up, did the last blog and packed up most of the room.  We packed the car, let mouskeeping know the room was vacant and caught the bus to the lobby. It's where the restaurants and shops are!

He is as tired as he looks.

Thinking about how soon we can come back to Disney World.

I got a phone call late that night, about 10:30.

I purchased gas near the Welcome Center for South Carolina.  It seems that the credit card fell out of my pocket at the Welcome Center. A very nice man found the card. He tried to flag me down, but I never looked back as I headed for home. He saw my tag, had my name and spent a good portion of his evening searching for me. He called the bank and told them he found a credit card, but h wanted me to know so I would not be freaked out when I went to use the card.  AMAZING.  I can not thank this man enough.  He was so kind.  I called the bank and we will be getting a new card wednesday.  I am still in amazement.  So nice.
I will check the card every time I get gas and I will check the rearview every time I pull out.

Magic

The Magic Kingdom! We had the very best time of our whole trip this time at the Magic Kingdom.

It started by taking the car out again. This time to the Polynesian.   The breakfast was at Ohana's.  Lon did not know who was going to show up.

Lon thought we were going to go back to the car and take the bus again.

He said he wanted to ride the monorail. I was able to leave the car in the Polynesian parking lot and we got on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom!

There it is!

We heard about this game called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. We stopped in at the fire house and got a pack of cards each.  Lon got mine too.  The cards are free. One pack per person

With an amazing price.  Our biggest worry was how would we get it home without breaking any bits off.

We met Jessie David and Mila!  The cousins got along very well.  They ran ahead to get in line to see Mary Poppins

Lunch at Peco's Bills.  The food was good. Lon ate all his kids meal and an order of churros.  Of course we got the Country Bear Jamboree Jugs.

Pirate's of the Caribbean was open again. It had shut earlier for technical difficulties.  We went back to the ride.  The cousins amusing themselves.

We parted ways with our cousins and we went to Fantasy Land.  That is where the instructions said for Lon to go to start his game.

Lon completed one mission in Fantasy Land, we got my popcorn bucket and we went back to the hotel to rest for a little bit before the night's big adventure

Anger for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Lon had a great costume.  I received many compliments on mine, that made me feel good.

We had special passes for something called the Hallowishs Dessert Buffet. We got a special place to view the parade, a walk through the back lot and then a dessert buffet and the best place to view the Hallowishs  fireworks.

Eyeore stopped earlier and did a fist bump with Lon, but I was not fast enough to capture that.

The buffet. Wonderful stuff and you could go back as many times as you wanted. They also had coffee!

I am not exactly sure how they do this, but they light up the castle with different patterns and make it look completely different about every 15 seconds

Then it was time for rides! We went back down mainstreet and found a locker to stow the backpack. At the Dessert buffet they gave us to souvenir mugs, Crystal skulls, filled with candy.  I did not want to carry the full back pack on the rides.   Lon was cold, so a hoddie was in order.

Our first ride was the teacups!  It was great!  No waiting.

Then we wanted to try the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.  Lon said it was a must do since I was dressed as Snow White.   LOVED the ride. We only waited about 15 minutes for that ride. They have things for you to do while you wait, a gem matching game, a colored water music thing and a place where you spin the barrels of gems to make patterns and dwarfs appear on the ceiling. We were not waiting long enough to take full advantage of those, and we did not complain!  Loved that ride!!!

Then of course, we had to go over and ride the Haunted Mansion, what Halloween party would be complete without that? Again, no waiting.

By this time it was 11:50 pm and rides were starting to shut down, we were going to try for Big Thunder Mountain but we decided we could not make it that far before it closed for the night.
We got a special Mickey ghost popcorn bucket. We had to ask for them, they had the dog house one out, but Mickey, is the one we wanted.

We watched a little of the Hocus Pocus Show, but Lon was asleep on his feet.
We got the stuff out of the locker and made our way to the bus.  He fell asleep on the bus, and I wish I could have carried him, but I just could not. He was a trooper and walked himself.   He was giggling about cheese wiz to keep awake enough to put one foot in front of the other.
He laid down on the bed and just before he crashed, he said That was the best day.

It really was the best day of our mini trip.
