Camping Trip!

Our more or less annual camping trip to Leavenworth was this past weekend! Mark was supposed to be rafting, but sadly, the rafting trip was canceled because they could not get enough people.  It worked out great for us, as we all got to spend the day together!
Mark and Lon took the afternoon off, and we were on our way just before lunch time.  We were going to stop at 59er Diner, but they were jam packed full!  We stopped in at the Squirrel Tree instead. They had great food and hummingbirds!
They had a lot of feeders out, which brought a ton of hummingbirds!
a still hummingbird. I caught that one just right
They move so fast!
We spent some time in downtown Leavenworth. This is a new statue to us. Lon liked it. So did we.
Lon took this photo of us, with our German counterparts
This is a church, St. Josephs, I had never seen. We parked a couple blocks out of the main downtown core. We saw some things we had not seen before.  We looked through all sorts of fun shops too. Mark tried on a jacket at the Australian shop. I liked it on him. He was just looking, we had not even been to the campsite yet. I was disappointed the Australian shop did not have Cherry Ripe. I like those!

The campsite.
Brian and Lon on the woodpile. Lon loved playing on the wood pile this trip. One of the great things about the KOA in Leavenworth is if you chop the log rounds in the woodpile, the wood is free!  We went through a good amount of wood. We like the to add colors too it once it gets a little bit dark. Those are fun!
Kayla is testing our new air mattress. Making sure it is good enough to sleep on.
Our Cozy Tents
The view from our campsite!
Saturday Morning, after breakfast, we went out to Smallwoods. The petting zoo is always fun. Lon was a bit nervous to feed the animals. I helped him and showed him it really just tickled. The animals are very tame and if you hold your hand flat, they will not eat your fingers.
He did it! He fed the very gentle donkey.  He had fun with that.
Turkeys!
While we were at the petting zoo, they announced the cow train would be leaving in 10 minutes. Lon still loves the cow train!  The last cow gives a whippier ride. Which is more fun!
Uncle Chong and Daddy waiting for the cow train to  be over.  The kids rode twice.  They got extra long rides since they were having so much fun
After Smallwoods, we went into Cashmere.  We had to eat at Brian's Pizza! The boys amused themselves by looking at the latest Lego catalog.
Before we all left the restaurant, I snuck out and got Lon some geodes. He loves those, and I remembered there was a place to get them in Cashmere.  We are saving them for his birthday.
We stopped by the Sure to Rise Bakery.  Lon takes his chocolate cupcakes seriously.

The Cashmere Pioneer Museum is a wonderful place. It is a large place! Two stories and an outside village.  They also have a treasure hunt for children. Lon really enjoys that part.
The train car was open ! We got to look at the inside of the train car. That was fun. Still looking for items on the treasure hunt
Telling the docent where each of the items were found.  She told me later she was very impressed with how Lon answered the questions she posed to him. She told me he was very articulate and gave a good amount of information.  I love to hear good things about my boy!
Then it was back to the campsite to rent the go carts!
S'mores before bedtime. A very fun Saturday was had by all!
After we broke camp on Sunday morning we went back to Leavenworth.  Lon had a chocolate chip cookie while I got a good coffee and a pastry. I got a cheese and pear pastry. Mmmmm. I liked it. I think Lon liked it too.
Mark did go back and try on the jacket again.  He got it this time!  Hooray! He looks so good in it too!
He got me a lacey scarf. I like it. No, I did not get pictures.  We went back and put our treasures in the car, and walked around a little more.
Lon got a bit of gelato, chocolate and espresso. We all shared it.
Lon wanted to go on a carriage ride.  Mark said it sounded good so we went.  It was a nice anniversary thing to do. Yes, Mark and I have now been married 17 years! :)
Lon enjoyed the ride too!
In the car on the way home.  Lon said he was sad we were leaving, but happy we were going home.
It is always fun camping with the Yis. We will do it again in August!
