On the Road to Chelan

We thought it would be nice to get away for the weekend. Before the summer rush of people to Eastern Washington. We went up to Lake Chelan. In the spring it is very nice. Green, not the lovely brown of summer. On Friday, Lon and I took Mark to work. Then we came home and started to pack the car! I moved the car seat to Big Red, packed up the luggage, brought some food, grabbed the baby stroller and backpack. Then when Mark was ready to leave work, Lon and I went to get him, and we were off!

There was still snow along the highway up at Snoqualmie Pass. Lon was sound asleep so we did not stop to play in the snow.

We stopped to look at Earth Quake Point. In the late 1880s they had an Earthquake which sheered off part of the hillside. There was so much rock and debris that it backed up the might Columbia River for several hours. It is all there on the sign.

A cool rock formation in the river.

The porch on our room. It was a gorgeous view. Lon liked it too. He thought going out on the porch was fun!

Sunset from our room. Wow. The hotel had a outdoor hot tub, which was not too hot. Bath tub hot.

Lon loved playing in the water. In June he starts AquaTots swim lessons. He is looking forward to learning to swim. We are trying to teach him to kick his legs, to float, and most important to spit out any water that gets in his mouth!

This ends Friday, half in Kirkland, half in Lake Chelan! We love weekend getaways!
