Fun on Highway 2

We left Chelan the next morning. I did not find a place to get a charm. So we have to go back!
The robin on this sign is real. He was so nice to pose for the photo!

Just outside Peshtin, there is Smallwoods Farm Stand. They now have a petting area. You can feed the critters carrots from the store, or cracked corn you can get from a dispenser. Lon thought it was pretty cool!

Peacocks are so cool! The boys were definitely showing off. I did not know that they can rattle their feathers too. It sounds really wild.

After we went through the store (I got some pickles and peach chipoltle salsa) we were back on the road. yes, we all used copious amounts of hand sanitizer.

Leavenworth. This is the water front promenade. It is a very pretty walk.

This is more of what Leavenworth is known for. It used to be a logging town called Icicle. Well, they knew they were not going to make it, so they decided to turn themselves into a *Bavarian village* and it worked! They have a ton of different festivals and lots of tourists. The Tree Lighting Festival in December draws HUGE crowds. I went by bus one year. It was lots of fun. We had lunch at an outside hotdog place. It was more German style sausages. Lon ate a pretzel and some chips. (he had some kringle when we arrived so he was not too hungry) He drank alot of my lemonade too! We walked around the town, I was looking for a smashed penny machine and a silver charm. Everyone I asked said, no, I am not sure we have those things here. WELL! I looked in EVERY store. Near the munchen stop (where we had lunch) they had a store called the Wood Shop. Fun locally made wooden puzzles, and a smashed penny machine! WOOOHOOO! Then at Red Baron gifts, right next door to the munchen, they had silver charms, several of them as a matter of fact. A fish, a deer, a beer stein, a coocoo clock and a Bavarian looking chalet. I got the chalet. They all had the tags that say Leavenworth Washington. I was very pleased. After that we went to the city park and Lon ran out all his wiggles. We were trying to teach him to roll down the hill.

We had wonderful weekend! Lon had a great time too! Everyone commented on how darn cute he is!
