Easter 2009, version 2

Easter was very fun. We arrived at Mom and Andy's place on Holy Thursday. I do not have any photos of my grandmother, mother and I making sausage. But I think I have it pretty much down and can now make it on my own. If Mom or Andy has any pictures of that event, please email them to me!
Easter Sunday was beautiful weather, a light breeze. Perfect.
Lon woke up excited to see if the Easter Bunny found him in California. It did! There was so much in that little basket! Movies, games, toys and some candy.

It was a little early.

A bunny fan!

We had an Easter Egg hunt in the front yard. The eggs were filled with little toys.

A full basket!

The table. It was the usual spread, but just a little smaller.

bunny cakes! Bunny Cakes! BUNNY CAKES!

Lon playing with a the kids who came. He had fun. It was such a nice day.

Car Washing with Daddy!

April 5

It was a nice day. Nice enough to wash cars. Which is exactly what Lon and Daddy did!

Lon had fun in his froggy rain coat and orange rain boots. It was colder than it looked!

Zeeks Pizza!

April 4
Daddy and Lon and I went to Eastside Trains, and then to Zeeks Pizza. Lon loves Zeeks.

One fun thing at Zeeks is that they give Lon a little ball of dough to play with while he is waiting. The dough ball is much more fun then the crayons and coloring page they also give him. Mommy and Daddy sometimes (most times) do the coloring page!

Almost all the pizza is gone. Pizza and Rootbeer. It is a perfect combination.
Just down the street is a little bakery. Lon got a chocolate cupcake. He then told us that he is not a very neat eater most of the time with cupcakes. This is very true. But it is never a problem.

Last Pirate Class

Traveling back in time just a bit, we are going to play catch up! Three blogs to catch us up to going to California, then all the California blogs....
April 3 we had our last Pirate Class of this session. We will have two more pirate classes this summer, but more on that as it happens.

A cannon! A cannon that shoots little foam balls, very fun. The kids all loved it every single one.

Teaching the kids how to use the cannon. There was no gun powder or anything remotely harmful in it, but there was a skill set involved in making it work right.

Passing out pirate booty!

Lon stayed after class to play with the cannon!

So did other kids. We are looking forward to the next session of pirate class.

It's All Happening at the Zoo

Thursday, after we got things settled, Lon and I went to the zoo! The Sacramento Zoo is small, it is Lon sized. They have Lions, Tigers, but no Bears, oh my! We walked all over the zoo and looked at all the animals. There were a very large number of school groups, preschool groups all over the place! It was crowded! Lon liked the lions, we watched the mommy and daddy lion for a while. The daddy lion just sat on the big rock looking around while the mommy lion paced, looked restless and tried to get into the door to get something to eat! We saw flamingos too. I told Lon why they were pink. Baby flamingos are white, but over time all the shrimp they eat turns them pink. The little girl and her mother beside me did not believe me, and told us so. We blew it off cause we know we are correct. We saw baby ducks, swimming in the flamingo lagoon. They were so cute! We had lunch at the zoo, which was expensive and not so good. The good side is that Lon got a new animal head lunch box! He chose the monkey one. I will put it next to his Panda lunch box from the National Zoo. Lon liked his hot dog and he did eat about 1/2 my onion rings. We also saw giraffes, they are rebuilding the giraffe habitat, they are building an eye level platform so we can see eye to eye with the giraffes. We looked at them for a while, until all three of them went inside.
Across the street from the Zoo is something called Fairy Tale Land. It was built in 1959. I got a brochure on it, and it looked really super cheesy. However, we had to park behind Fairy Tale Land when we went to the zoo. Lon looked through the fence, and he wants to go. They have a tractor to climb on, and a COW. A real live cow, sheep and all sorts of other animals to pet. This was lacking at the zoo. So I am thinking that we will be going there next week. It is also inexpensive, only 4 dollars each to get in. I will keep you posted

Water, Water Everywhere!

Lon and I are having fun in the heat! It is hot for us, 86 today! Yesterday we put more water in the hot tub, and we both got soaking wet in the process. Lon sprayed me, I sprayed him. It was great fun, but without photos. I was not taking the camera out with all the water we were throwing around.
Today, Lon wanted to play on the deck, and I needed some vitamin D therapy! I took my book, wore my sunglasses and watched Lon while I read my book. It was wonderful. Lon got out some toys and proceeded to move them across the deck with the hose. I did get some photos of him playing with the hose, watering his head. We made some coke popsicles, the root beer ones are now in the freezer!
Tomorrow, Mom comes home! Once everyone is up, Lon and I are going to Target to get a little pool! We both are going to use it.

Old Town Sacremento

Easter Monday, Mark, Lon and I got up early and took Daddy to the airport. It was sad.( Lon and I are unsure when we are leaving ~ since we are helping out while Grandma Phis recovers from hip surgery.) After a few tears and figuring out the garmin, Lon and I went to Old Sacramento. Mainly for the train museum. We walked around a played for 2 hours before anything opened. The coffee shop was open, Mommy got a coffee and Lon got a sprinkle cupcake. We had fun looking around at things.
The California State Train Museum was wonderful! The trains were HUGE. I guess I never thought about how big they are close up. They had some cars, and lots of locomotives. They had some of the history of California trains. The steam train will start running again on the 25th of April. They are working on the line, so the train is temporarily shut down. Upstairs, they have a section of toy trains, heavy on Lionel. Which I liked. They also had a section of Thomas The Tank Engine that the little ones could play with. We played with that ALOT. Lon had a blast with them.
After our fill of trains, we walked around looking for a sweatshirt for Grandmother, but we could not find one we thought she would like. We did get some postcards, I got myself a silver charm and Lon got a t-shirt, a book and a Thomas train car. Which he is playing with now, and loves it.
After that we found our way home, via the grocery store and the post office.
It was a great day.

Easter 2009

We made it to Mom's place in good time. We just got on 5 and kept the car pointed south!
We had all the usual foods, this year I helped make sausage, we made 27 pounds. I will be bringing some home. Next year, I am in charge of making the sausage.
NOTE: due to technical difficulties, photos will have to be added at a later time.
The weather was perfect. Sunshine, about 78 degrees and a slight breeze. We had a small group of people, but the small group was wonderful.
Lon found his Easter Basket early in the morning. He got more toys than candy, there was PLENTY of candy though. The Easter Bunny also hid eggs out in the front yard. These eggs were also mainly filled with toys! Little characters, like Linny, Tuck, Ming Ming, (the wonder pets) and the characters from Little Einsteins. We did not get Annie though. She is missing. (they did not have the Annie egg at the store when Mommy went Easter Bunny shopping)
It was a very fun day. Perhaps next year at my house?

Easter Preview 2009

We are going back to California again this year. I wanted to be sure we had the Easter Bunny photos before we left. So after Pirate class we went to the mall. I had Lon's Easter outfit in the car, and I helped him change into in the mall parking lot. When I asked Lon if he wanted to walk through the mall or ride in the stroller. Stroller won.
I used some hair gel to make sure his flyaway hair stayed put. Perhaps I used a bit much.
This is the bunny photo this year! They went digital! We have them instantly and we can even pick the best of three.

Lon was so good at the mall. We had to go across to Sees, the ladies at the shop were having a great time entertaining Lon. They gave him chocolates, and a little bunny finger puppet that the last part of the candy cane had broken off. He loved the attention.

Chuck E Cheeses

Thank you so much to Cheri who told us about going there at 9:30 am! NO one was there but us! Cheri's son and Lon ran around to everything like crazy!

Bob the Builder bulldozer ride was fun

Getting ready to go up into the tubes above.

On the move

Ty and Auntie Theresa came too! We had lots of fun. We stayed for lunch, which was an error! I was hungry and forgot that Spice Route was next door. They have a buffet for lunch. Lon has been there before, and like his mother he thinks butter chicken is yummy. Next time we go there! Yes, there will be a next time.

Happy Pi Day!

I did not read that congress was apparently making this a holiday, I just read about it a week or so ago. I have a book called holidays and observances that I think is fun. Plus it is an excuse to make a pie or three.
For dinner we had pizza pie!

For Lon, any excuse for pizza is a good one.

Now I am posing! but Cars is on TV...

Okay, Mom, put the camera away and eat already!

Getting Ready for Summer!

Today was a nice day! Mark got to come home early, Hooray for Flex time!! Mark wanted to clean the grill to get it ready for it's summer work out. Lon had to help him.

He is very intent on doing a good job

He did a good job!

Our grill is now ready for summer. Bring it on!

Snow, again.

On Sunday night we had thunder and lightening and hail. Serious hail. Not serious by Midwest standards, but pretty big for here.

Then today, Lon and I were running errands. We got caught up in the snow that gave us this view on our deck. The snow was coming down very hard, the road was almost impossible to see and the cars in front or behind us were also hard to see! We did make it home safe and sound.
The flowers are making a valiant effort to remember it is March.

First Visit to the Dentist

Today we met Dr. Peterson. A super nice dentist. Lon has all his baby teeth in! Dr. Peterson said Lon is showing no visible signs of cavities, his teeth are shiny, the only problem he sees is that Lon's teeth are very tight in his mouth and his front teeth overlap a little which could mean orthodontics later in his childhood.

In the front office.
In the chair, Lon said he was a little nervous.
The hygienist was showing Lon a toothbrush, he told her that his was a fire engine and the top part went round and round. He told her his ice cream cone toothbrush also spun, but his Diego one did not.

Getting a good look at those teeth!

Meeting Dr. Peterson, it went well.

Showing how big he can open his mouth

Why I adore my dentist.

Lon loved the glove balloon and wanted to sleep with it tonight. He isn't.
The hygienist then showed Lon how the water and the suction works, he wanted to keep playing with that!
He did get two good boy tokens to get himself a treat from the toy tower in the lobby. He was so proud of himself that he got TWO tokens.
The visit did go well, Lon used the teeth cleaner thingy on me, but they will use it on him in September.

Sunday Swim

We have started going to the Y for family swim on Sundays. This is the first time we have been able to get pictures. Uncle Rahul and Auntie Prachi came with us! Auntie Prachi did not want to get into the water, so she was kind enough to take photos!
Mark and Lon in the deep end. Lon loves wearing his life jacket.

Mom and Lon playing.

Swimming all by himself
Uncle Rahul and Lon. Lon played only for about 1/2 an hour then he was done! But it was fun and we will do it again next Sunday
