I learned that Beaufort is is pronounced bew-fort. Not Bo-fort, like the sea.
We passed this statue, we saw a movie called the Boy on the Dolphin. It really was not a great movie.
This is the balcony of the Best Western Hotel.
A gorgeous tree and house
We were walking around trying to find a place to eat. We did not do much research on what was available before we left Summerville.
We tried a place called Plums. Not what we were looking for. The wait staff seemed like they were overwhelmed, the chairs were rickety, the menu was okay, but nothing Lon was really looking for. We found another place called Panninis. The wait staff was calm, the place was just as busy. The menu featured much more than sandwiches! Lon was able to get a wood fired pizza. Mark had fresh local clams to start, I had wild caught shrimp, and we both had linguine with clams as our lunch. We were way too full for dessert, but those looked good too! This place was great!
After our wonderful lunch we walked along the park. This is the view from one of the swinging benches. I love that they have a series of these along the walk.
There were lots and lots of very friendly dogs. The greyhounds, the german shepherds, and we even saw two basset hounds! We got to pet them all! It was a good dog day
the marina.
Not sure why Lon is looking into the business end of the cannon!
Isn't she gorgeous! SO very big too!
loved that gate!
window shopping with some real shopping thrown in!
Ice cream break! A wonderful looking old fashioned place. The ice cream was good!
On our way out of town we saw the Santa Elana History Center. It was quarter to 4, but they were open till 4 and we got to see inside.
They are doing a soft opening, they will open mid April. On the 20th of April they are hosting a replica Spanish Galleon. Yes, Lon and I will be heading down there to see that!
I love old yellow houses!
The marshes on the way home.
It was a wonderful day trip. We will be going back to explore some more!
