This morning, we got the chance to set off the rockets Lon got from Ian for his birthday. Well, Lon's rockets were not put together. I did not know they needed to be, since we had not ever opened the box This was not a problem, Ian's Dad sort of figured that and brought a rocket that was all ready to go. He also brought a box of rockets just like ours, thinking it was a simple plan to put those together. Turned out it was not, so we are saving those for a later date. Lon and I will have the rockets built soon.
Figuring out the rocket!
Getting the rocket to the launch pad
Hooking up the ignition.
An adults only thing to do
Counting down
We have lift off!
This launch does not appear to be going well
Looking at the burned launch pad. The rocket burned a hole through the metal launch pad! Now we all know why we stay far back from the launch.
This looks like a much better launch
Bringing back the rocket!
The fourth launch
Lift off!
Our fourth launch would turn out to be our last of the day. The rocket landed up about 60 feet in a tree. Surrounded by blackberry bushes. That rocket is lost.
We will get our rockets built and have another launch soon.
One more thing, yes, this is October 6 and it was 70 degrees.
