Bennington Monument

The Bennington Monument commemorates the August 16, 1777 Battle of Bennington. The Green Mountain Boys defeated a superior British force. The battle monument rises over 300 feet. The elevator "only" goes up 200 feet. There are stairs, but they were closed to the public in 1960.

Can it really be a moose?

Yep, it is a painted moose. (yes, the weather did clear up)

Waiting in the line to go up into the monument. The outside of the monument was covered in ladybugs. Lon thought it was very cool. He kept trying to touch them. They were landing on Daddy.

The view from the top. There are lots of slit windows to look out. There were also lots of people!

Daddy and Lon.

Inside our hotel room. Yes, Lon is playing with a new construction set in only his diaper. The room reminded me of grandma's spare room circa 1968.

The hotel and the Church.

We spent a wonderful evening in Bennington with some of Mark's college friends. They were very nice.
