Riding the Big Bike

Lon let us know his bike was getting small.  Mark thought he should give his bike a try. It is a 26 inch bike.
At first Dad had to hold onto the back of the bike

Then it was to the grass, so if he fell, it would not hurt so much!

He has his confidence!

Then he went all around the cul de sac, several times

I see a new bike in Lon's near future

A Drive Around the County

Today we thought we should get out of the house for a drive!  Mark had seen some antique shops in Bonneau when he was coming back from camping.
on the way to St. Stephen, the next town up from  Bonneau. We went a little farther than we first thought

Another ice machine in the middle of nowhere! These must be a South Carolina thing

Downtown St. Stephen.  There were two second hand stores that were open.  We did go to both. Interesting items to be had.
There did not seem to be any other businesses in operation on the street.

Love the purple and white on the train warehouse!

We did not know there was a very old church in St. Stephen's! An Episcopal church built in the 1760s. We will go back and see it !

A restaurant only open on Friday and Saturdays. looks interesting.
We stopped in Bonneau, only one of the three second hand/antique places were open today. The others are open on Saturdays.  We will go back to those.  They look like fun!
As we were nearing Monck's Corner, a small voice said if we pass somewhere to eat we should stop.
On the way up to St. Stephen's we saw the sign for Gilligan's on the Dock and mentioned we should stop there sometime.  That sometime just turned into now.
This is the best Gilligan's EVER.  We have been to the one in Goose Creek, it was good, we have been to the one in Ladson, and it was eh. This one really was good. Lon thought it odd that the kids menu had pizza and chicken fingers on it. Isn't this a seafood place? He had the popcorn shrimp and flounder, with fries. Mark had the Low Country stir fry, which is shrimp, sausage, cabbage and red rice. I had shrimp scampi.   They were out of chocolate cake.  darn it.

It was fun to see the boats go by!   Flags for Memorial Day even on boats!

A blue heron. Can you spot him flying by?
DRAMA!  But it was only a life jacket check. I am glad they do that!

He was as interested in us as we were in him.

Can you see him?

Okay, it might be a girl, but to me they are all big boys!

a little better, he was moving pretty fast

Moving out toward the middle. A boat came by and he went under, we did not spot him again.

I hope you were able to see the Alligator in the last three photos! Lon thinks his name should be Bob.  Bob the Gator.

We stopped by an antique shop in Monck's Corner.
Not sure I really have to caption this photo.

Driving down Black Tom Road. This is an alternative route to the pumpkin patch.  Pretty drive.

We had a wonderful time getting out of the house exploring more of the low country!

The day was capped off by treats from the ice cream man!

Shuckin Shack

After church we decided to go out for lunch.   We heard about a new place downtown, it went in where the Italian place used to be. Alessandra's. Now is it is the Shuckin Shack.

At first I thought it was just oysters, but it has other things

Dad was teasing Lon telling him they have corn dogs. Lon said, no, he was at a seafood place and he was going to have fried fish! Fried fish is the best!

We started off with calamari, which Lon did not try, then Lon had his fish, Mark has oysters and I had shrimp.
The food was good, and we will go back. I did not see a kids menu at lunch.  Lon ate most of his adult portion of fried flounder.
They only sad thing is that the only dessert they have is a moonshine cake.  Sounds yummy, but not for Lon

The squirrels around here have big ears!

While we were waiting for the check, Lon went to see if the train store was open, it was not. He came back saying he needed the camera since there was a really cool car parked near there. I let him have it and he brought back this image! That is a pretty cool car!

There was not much open on short central but we had a good time walking around

One of the bird sculptures around town. We love the hummingbirds on the fountain.

Nice afternoon in downtown Summerville.

Danny's Birthday!

After Lon got home from Graduation Camp Out, he had a birthday party to attend!

It was at the roller rink! Lon started out hugging the wall going around the edges.

It did not take long before he was out with everyone!
Then there was pizza!

More skating after pizza time

CAKE!
Presents.
Lon was happy to know he got Danny a lego!  Mommy went shopping while he was camping.

It was a very fun afternoon.

Graduation Camp Out 2015

These are the photos Mark took while camping.

All untangled

lunch time

Fishing boy.  They went swimming in the pond before hand, but Mark did not get photos of that since he was swimming too.

At one of the two waterfalls

ta da!

Paddle boating, it was really fun, until they started taking on water. Made it for a real short trip
The big boys, Webelos 2, got to be in charge of the fire. They are lighting the fire here.
