Day 37: Parks and Passes

Starting Mileage:  8442.6

We woke up very early, got a couple shots of wild turkeys and were on the road about 6:30am! We thought it would be good to get going since we had changed our plan just a bit.
The highest pass we went through. We went through alot of high elevation passes today!
At 7:42am we were in Worland, Wy.
We got a little bit of gas just to make sure we could get through both Parks
Mileage: 8533.6
2.715 gallons @ $3.49
Beauty shot in Wyoming

Heading into Yellowstone National Park
Yep! Here we are!
A chance to run for a bit!
Posing
We saw lots of people posing on this rock! I snapped my first picture with an I-phone, when I took a photo of some one else

We went to get some lunch at the first visitor's center. Fishing Bridge. The snack bar was not anything I wanted to eat at, so we went to the tiny grocery store part. We got salads, sandwiches and Lon got his very first luncahble thing. He ate it all. We sat out side on a bench next to a group going to Sturgis.  Nice guys.
Lon at the thermal pools at West Thumb.  We went there to get his Ranger Talk portion of his Jr Ranger  badge. The badge for Yellowstone is an actual patch. Since Yellowstone is a big destination, the Jr. Ranger badge takes a very long time to complete. It took us almost 2 hours. He was so thrilled when he got it. I pinned it on his hat brim.   He really loves those badges. He does remember the things he learned too!
Lewis Falls.  On our way to the Grand Tetons National Park! We looked at the map, and we had enough time to do both. Which is what we did.
Deer in the Grand Tetons! We saw some Elk, briefly and a bear too far away to get a decent photo. No bison. None. No buffalo this entire trip.
We needed another Ranger Talk to get his Jr. Ranger badge from Grand Tetons.  We just made the 4pm Hydrology talk. Lon asked questions that were on topic and answered questions. The Hydrology Ranger was very impressed with him
Getting his Jr. Ranger Badge. Lon had the option of getting a badge or a patch. Lon chose both.  I have another one to sew on when we get home!

Idaho!
Having fun at the Sandpiper. It was right on the river. Dinner was fine. I hope our waiter has a better day tomorrow.
We went though 5 mountain passes today, tomorrow I think we don't go through any, but there is one more between us and home.

Great Day. It looks like everyone had a good day. I think I will print the photo of Lon on the rock.
Have a nice time in Idaho.

Love you all, Mom
