Lincoln City ~ Day One!

We needed a get away, so off we went to the Oregon Coast.  Lincoln City sounded like a great place to play, we had stopped there before for lunch. We stayed at a great place called the Captian Cook Inn. It is an updated 1940s roadside motel.  The floors were still the original wood, arched doorways and the tile work in the bathroom was charming. The downside was the stay puff marshmallow bed, and the noise from the next room.  Both nights we had different arguing couples.  Do people argue more in hotels? Loudly argue?

These are the stairs down to the beach! I stopped and admired the view about halfway up! Lon was even getting a little winded!
Daddy in the surf!
Lon loves the sand. He was so excited about the beach he got up super early! Looking down the beachSome beauty shots of the beach! We needed to get more clothes for Lon!  I thought I brought enough, but it turns out I underestimed Lon's ability to get dirtyThis is so mch FUN!! Water, sand, sun -such as it is! Lon is in his perfect place! On the banks of the D river. The shortest river in the world, or so the signs say!Look at those waves!  We did tell Lon he could not go into the water. It was simply not safe for him, and as we all later found out, sneaker waves are called sneakers for a reason!   We were all in the water, Mark was holding onto Lon and I was up to almost my knees in water. The next thing I knew, I was up to the tops of my thighs and it was one strong pull/push!  I was so happy Mark was holding Lon! He just pulled him out of the water and held on.  We did not go back into the water after thatThe water is going to get me! I better run! I think it got me! I did bring other shoes for LonRun, run, runA chnage of pants and shoes, then lunch at a local place called Richens. It was good. Mark had clams, Lon had a pancake, and I had halibut and chips!  Reminded me of Charlies~ the halibut not the ambiance.  The waitress was very nice to Lon, the food was good. Then it was out to the outlet mall to get more pants for Lon and workout shoes for Mommy and Daddy, then back to the beach! A mural across from Richens. Lon thought it looked great, and it doesBack to the beach in the afternoon. Daddy getting his feet wet!  It turned out to be the perfect beach day, about 65 degrees, a light breeze and not crowded. Perfect.Lon even took his shoes off. So did Mommy. That evening, after rinsing all the sand off us, and packing up the sandy clothes in bags, we went to a pizza place called Galluccis.  Wonderful pizza.  They have no wait staff. You order at the cash register. They call your number you pick up your pizza and paper plates, any cheese/red pepper you want and off you go. You pick up your drinks right after you order.  Lon LOVED their pizza.  He did not want to share his little cheese pizza. He had 6 slices, he ate three at dinner, then snacked on the rest.  Lon wants to go back to the good pizza place. The wait was not very long, but to a hungry 4 year old it was a long time, but he waited well. He knew the good pizza was coming!Pizza!! A sunset drive down the coast. We drove the 10 miles down to depot bay and back. It was s nice relaxing drive, and so pretty watching the sun set.  It was a wonderful saturday on the beach.

Park Break

Friday, February 26 Lon and I walked down to Goose Poop Park. Lon was wearing his fire fighter rain coat Santa brought him. I was afraid it was going to rain, it didn't!
Swinging, Lon style
Slides! We still love slides
Lon is explaining to me why it is exactly he can no longer wear his firefighter rain coat. It was long and detailed and boiled down to: it is too hot in my coat. I am takin' it off. I will put it on when we go home
Okay, I am at the top, now what do I do?
I am thinking I can get into the chair. However, I am going to try to look cool cause I really can not quite get up there on my own

First Day of Practice PreSchool

On February 25th Lon had his first day of PreSchool at the community center. We call it practice school. Two hours on thursdays for a month. Lon wanted to look his best, so he decided to wear his very favorite shirt, Scooby Doo!
Being a little goofy, waiting for class to start. While we were waiting we met the only other boy in the class, Ben. Ben and Lon are now buddies and according to the teacher are inseparable during class.
Lon saw the kitchen unit that was like the one he used to have, he was happy to have me leave.
Sneaking a peak inside the class. Lon was happy and he wants to go back. He is learning the things he needs to learn for kindergarten, how to listen and how to sit still.

A Sunday in February

Sunday was a gorgeous day! The lawn was mowed, the first time this year! Then the boys washed the cars! Lon did the hose work!
He has so much fun with the hose, and wearing his fireman raincoat! (Santa brought him that!)
He takes his hose work seriously
Daddy did the washing part!
While the boys were playing with water, I put a coat of sealer on my new gargoyle! I think I will call him Boris. He is now in the backyard, amongst the daffodil ls. I will get a picture of him when they all bloom, in about a week! Really, it is still February!

Welcome to the World, Reyansh!

This afternoon at 2:21pm Reyansh was born! His parents are overjoyed with the cute little boy!
He weighed in at 6 pounds 13 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. We went up to see them at about 7pm
Lon was very excited to meet Reyansh. He told us all that he was going to teach him how to walk, talk, run and everything he knew, and hold his hand while he was teaching him all that.

The Sweetest Thing

On Friday, when we woke up, Lon felt my forehead. He told me that I felt warm, and he would take care of me this morning. He would make me breakfast and bring it to me in bed, then he would do my chores. Lon ran downstairs and pulled out the peanut butter, opened the fridge, got out the jam and made me a peanut butter sandwich. Lon climbed up on the counter and got the plate and brought it up to me. Lon was beaming, he was so proud of himself. Just a little peanut butter, a little jam.
Best. Sandwich. Ever.
