NorthWest Trek

Today, one of the hottest days of the year, we decided to go to Northwest Trek. Brian and Kayla came with us and brought their parents too.  We got our tickets, our tram ride was about an hour away, so we had our picnic in the shaded parking lot. It was fun, the kids had their chairs, a little baby squirrel was running around eating the crumbs.
Mr. Cool

Mom, is this all we are going to do, take pictures of me? Let's go find some of the animals!

Since it was  hot (92), they hung a hose in the tree and had it on mist. That was SO nice!! On the way out, Lon played in that so much he was soaked. He was dry by the time we got to the car.

Getting in the line for our tram

Lon is pretending to listen to the safety lecture

One of the two Caribou that loved to hang out at the tram station. Did not get a photo of the big boy with the HUGE rack!  If Uncle Chong got one, I will post it here later.

Brian looking for animals. Not really seeing any yet

A ram! There were a bunch of young rams hanging out together under a tree.

Watching the woods go by

The ewes hanging out under another clump of trees, close, but not too close to the boys

Mother Moose.

The boys think that something might be out that side. I was not sure if anything really was out there or not

Another tram that looked exactly like ours was starting its tour. Our tram has a green stripe, not a blue one. We were in the second car, all the way in the back.

Roosevelt Elk cooling off in the water.

A lonely goat

The boys enjoying ice cream after the ride. We went to see the black bears. Lon and I did not see any. Kayla and Brian saw one.

We went home on State Route 169. We got to see some beautiful views of Mt. Rainer. I did not get them all on camera, but I think this one turned out well.
We enjoyed our day at Northwest Trek.  It was hot and there were not many animals out and about for us to see.  Perhaps we will give this another try in the spring. Maybe they will have baby animals for us to see!

Sorry it is so disgustingly hot down there. Our heat wave is about over!
