Playdate, sort of

Today we were supposed to meet some of the children from Lon's class at the school playground.  Sad to say, we were the only ones there for a while. The lady who organized it did show up a little later, but that was all.  Lon had fun playing on the equipment anyway.
Slides are still cool

I helped him get up to the slider bar and he did ride across, only once.

It was fun just jumping off the tire

Running up the slide. He learned that from some older kids at another park. I am still less than thrilled with that

yes, Lon, I mean you.  However, since you are the only one here, you can run up the slide. This time.

Happy Birthday, Grace!

Today was Grace's party. It was HOT again today. So very happily for us, her party was at Omi's house on the lake.
Dressed properly for a lake party. He did not take off his life jacket the entire afternoon.

Birthday Girl

Discussing the balloon toss, and how to do it. Lon is still not good at catching things. He was out after the first round.

The hot potato game with more water balloons.  It went on for longer than Lon's attention span, he would go, play in the sand and come back after a few minutes. It was pretty cute.

Shark rider

Daddy is here!  He came after work

Opening presents. We made her some clothes, and we also got her a Littlest Pet Shop toy.  Clothes are a boring present when you are 5.

Wanting to go on the boat

Little boy

Not happy about having to go home. Mommy got something in her eye and it was swelling up. We had to leave.  We had a great day. Happy Birthday Grace!

NorthWest Trek

Today, one of the hottest days of the year, we decided to go to Northwest Trek. Brian and Kayla came with us and brought their parents too.  We got our tickets, our tram ride was about an hour away, so we had our picnic in the shaded parking lot. It was fun, the kids had their chairs, a little baby squirrel was running around eating the crumbs.
Mr. Cool

Mom, is this all we are going to do, take pictures of me? Let's go find some of the animals!

Since it was  hot (92), they hung a hose in the tree and had it on mist. That was SO nice!! On the way out, Lon played in that so much he was soaked. He was dry by the time we got to the car.

Getting in the line for our tram

Lon is pretending to listen to the safety lecture

One of the two Caribou that loved to hang out at the tram station. Did not get a photo of the big boy with the HUGE rack!  If Uncle Chong got one, I will post it here later.

Brian looking for animals. Not really seeing any yet

A ram! There were a bunch of young rams hanging out together under a tree.

Watching the woods go by

The ewes hanging out under another clump of trees, close, but not too close to the boys

Mother Moose.

The boys think that something might be out that side. I was not sure if anything really was out there or not

Another tram that looked exactly like ours was starting its tour. Our tram has a green stripe, not a blue one. We were in the second car, all the way in the back.

Roosevelt Elk cooling off in the water.

A lonely goat

The boys enjoying ice cream after the ride. We went to see the black bears. Lon and I did not see any. Kayla and Brian saw one.

We went home on State Route 169. We got to see some beautiful views of Mt. Rainer. I did not get them all on camera, but I think this one turned out well.
We enjoyed our day at Northwest Trek.  It was hot and there were not many animals out and about for us to see.  Perhaps we will give this another try in the spring. Maybe they will have baby animals for us to see!

What we did this Week.. more or less

Mark and Lon played lots of Balloon Lagoon while I painted.

Loving the color!

Then I did a little sewing. Lon helped me with the pins!

Now with the pants too!  A cute little outfit

Simple overalls!

Wish I could find more of those buttons...

Another little dress for another birthday girl!
The bad lighting makes it hard to see the colors, I will take another photo in the morning. .. Getting material out of the garage!
This is what we did in the last 6 days...

I think it just might be SUMMER this week!

Today was nice! It got up to 86 at our house. A little too hot as we did not turn the air conditioner on today, perhaps we will do it tomorrow.   I brought up Lon's blow up pool to blow it up and fill it, and somehow between the last time we had it up and now there got to be a big rip across the bottom!! OH NO! We had to go up to the drug store and get a new one RIGHT NOW.  This one is not as nice, but it holds water and that is the most important thing. When they go on super sale in a couple weeks, I will pick up a couple more blow up pools for next summer.
While Lon was waiting for the pool to blow up he was talking to his Dad about the fishing pole he got in Oregon. It was pretty flimsy. I then remembered that Aunt Karen had given him a great fishing toy when he was very little. I took it away from him cause he used the fishing pole as a stick to hit people with. I got it out for him and he seems to understand the rules this time. We never hit people.  The fish still works! The mouth opens and closes and it swims around the pool, waiting to be caught

Hmmm, planning the fishing strategy

I am going to catch him this time!

After a few unsuccessful times trying to catch the fish, he decided it was bicycle time!!  He loves to ride his bicycle!

Daddy was washing cars so he sprayed Lon to help keep him cool!

Lon got in on the car wash action!

Why is Lon running so crazily?

Perhaps this is the answer

And back on the bicycle!

Loving every minute of this. I have to find a bicycle riding park for him so he can ride a little bit more than just in front of the house.  OH! I just noticed he is not using his hands!! Oh, this is just a little early.

I put the bell from the trike on this bicycle. He loves to ring the bell!
Wipeout!
All better and ready for more riding!  He rode a little bit more and then we came in for dinner.
