Dinner at Brian and Kayla's!

We had a yummy Korean dinner tonight, thank you so much Auntie Michelle and Uncle Chong! Lon loves driving that car around.  He will admit he is a bit too big for it and then says but I still love it!!
Lon LOVED this helicopter toy. It is not the best photo. Lon played with it almost all afternoon.

On the playmat with the Dads.

Playing in the playroom. It was a good afternoon. Dinner was great!  Lon was fairly well behaved.  It was good seeing Chong and Michelle again!

Goofing off at Micheals, and Easter Breads

While Lon and I were shopping at Micheals, he got my camera and amused himself!
Yes, this is the way he took the photo
The Wilton aisle. One of the most visited by us! Looking for candy molds and cake pans in the shape of Scooby-Doo. Not for Easter, but for Lon's upcoming fifth birthday (I know, deep breath). He is starting to talk about wanting a Scooby theme. Ruh-ro!

The choreki and kulich!

Lon is dying the uncooked eggs for the Italian Easter Egg bread, which Lon now calls Rainbow bread. I like it.

Hot Cross Buns, without the frosting Cross.

Columba Pasqula. Whew! That is a serious bread, that took two full days to make!  Next time, if there is one, I will not have the oven so hot.  I think powdered sugar will help alot.

Orange almond marzipan. Yum! Yum! Yum! I had to hide them.. I hope I can find them Easter morning.
Now we start getting BUSY!

Bunny Picture Preview

Today we had Bunny pictures! I got Lon dressed up in his clothes at home this year, which is new. These are a couple of the pictures I took at home before we left for the mall.

Lon was not too happy about his sleeves being too long.  I told him he could push them up later

Woodland Park Zoo

Today Lon and I went to the Woodland Park Zoo, with Chris and Ben. It was SO much fun! We did about half of the zoo, that was enough.  Lon wants to go back
The first place we went was the family farm section. The petting zoo opens tomorrow, the first day of spring. We saw goats, sheep, a barn owl and miniature panda cows. The only thing that makes the cows miniature is that they have tiny legs.

This silly bird saw a spider on the other side of the glass, and kept flying into the glass to get it. Over and over again.

Laughing at the bird
Toucans!

That gorilla is trying to climb up the vine and get out of the zoo. Look!!
Orangutangs all sleeping in piles is pretty silly.

Pengiuns swim by pretty fast!
Climbing on the baby elephant. We only saw one adult elephant and he was far away.
More animals to climb on! We saw the Lion, we heard the lion! Every time the tiger said something or moved around in the enclosure near the lion, the lion felt the need to let the tiger know he was there. He was king, not the tiger!
These rocks were donated to the zoo from the listerners of radio station kzok. In memory of Jimi Hendrix and his music. There is a brass plaque, I did not know that beforehand
The boys just really liked playing on the rocks
In the African Village they played the drums. From the school building you were able to view the savannah. The giraffes, the ostrich, the zebra and the hippos!
There were also rattles and bells to play
Climbing into and out of a little stick hut. Then we were back to the begining.  A super fun day. There were a couple of cranky moments, but pizza fixed that.  I am so glad we went! So is Lon

Hiking on Sunday

It was another pretty day! We went out to enjoy it.  We took advantage of Lon's new found love of hiking to go on the trails at St. Edward park.
The trail head looks deceptively easy.  No problems. I should remember looks can be decieving!
This is the trail grade.  It is very pretty. I was not sore or winded but by the time we got to the water my right knee was just shaking.  I am now the proud owner of a new knee brace.
Lon is having a great time! He loves running ahead. The trail is so pretty!
The temperate rain forest! Moss on ALL sides of the trees
The trail marker, at the bottom of the trail. This is NOT at the top of the trail
Playing on the rocks in Lake Washington.
ohh, what is in here. This looks really cool!
Lon would only go into the tree if Daddy went in first. It was great once he was in there.
We went back up another trail, a moderate trail. Lon was losing steam the closer we got to the top.
The seminary building.
Once back up at the top we had to stop at the park and play.  The sandbox was first on the list.
Lon found a stick and played the pipes. He sang me me Twinkle Twinkle while he played.
Ta-Da!
Another thing on the list was to try every single slide at the park. There are four of them.
After our hike and playground tour we stopped by to see Reyansh.  He is getting cuter every day! I even got to cuddle with him, much to the consternation of Lon. He wanted to hold him and if he could not, I should stop right now!

Sunday Drive on Saturday

Today we decided to not do yard work or housework or any work at all! We went up to Skagit Valley, looked at the daffodills and then headed up Chuckanut drive to Bellingham.  The rain held off till the very end of our drive.
The first field of daffodills we stopped at.  There were very few cars. This will change in about two weeks when the tulips are in bloom.
Lon wanted to walk in the fields, but we told him that it was not the thing to do.  He was good with that
Lon trying to figure out how the camera works from the other side
All the daffodills! They are so pretty
Beauty shot
We stopped by Rozengaard We were able to park at the building, and we did not have to pay the nominal fee to tour the garden!  Of course, the tulips are not all in bloom yet. It was still very pretty.
We have a photo of Lon as a very little guy on the same frog. Thought we would do an update.
Lon ditched his coat and ran all over the garden. He did not go into the flowers. He did like to sniff every the flowers.
Coming back at you!
An angel at the garden enterance
I had never seen this statue before!
The San Juans. Someday we are going to go out there!
Riding in the car! Being wonderful
A beauty shot on the drive
The sponser of the beautiful waterfall.
Some information on our drive
Being goofy
Lon informed us that he is now wanting to go on hikes, and they should start NOW at this trail. Don't you think this would be a good idea? Huh, Mom? Let's go hiking, NOW. We did a little walking on this tiny trail, then we got back into the car and headed up to Bellingham.  We ate lunch at a little place called Win's Drive In. I had a Hawaiian burger. Yummy, Lon had a corn dog, and Mark had fish and chips. And they had pineapple shakes! It was a good day.
