New Furnace

After our water heater sprung an irreparable leak two days before my mother arrived. We decided to be proactive about getting a new furnace. Our furnace is original to the house (1979), so it was due to go anytime. We knew it would go out during the coldest cold snap over a major holiday and while we were out of town. Since we were getting a new furnace we bit the BIG bullet and also got the air conditioner. The whole thing is a heat pump.

This is our new water heater and old furnace. When the sales rep saw our old furnace he said, wow, you still have a pilot light in here. Apparently that is seriously old technology.

The furnace is gone. Moved out into the driveway.

Miguel working outside fabricating something for the furnace. They were here for a long time. First came the electrician, then came Miguel and John, then the duct cleaners. Lon was amazed at all the people who were in and out of his house!

Getting the new thermostat installed. It is in the same place as the old one. I still have to read the owner's manual. I have scanned it, but there is alot there to read!

This is the heat pump. It is HUGE. John is not short, he is taller than I am! Some of my calla lilies were sacrificed for the comfort of the family.

Lon takes a sandbox break. Supervising the workers is tough work.

This is the new unit. I wanted Lon to stand next to it, but nothing doing. Natasha posed for me. Nice cat.

Holy crap, that is HUGE! I'm thinking that was a wise move and you are definitely set for the next 15-20 :)
