Holiday Lights in Monck's Corner!

Tonight we decided to visit the drive through light display at Old Santee Canal Park. It is sponsored by the Santee Cooper Electric company.
While not as big as Jame's Island, it was still really cool!

The first pass, the middle of this tree was out. As soon as I snapped this photo, the top 2/3rds went out!!

On our way home is a street that takes Christmas lights very seriously!

Introducing Ranger!

Yes, we got another kitten. A teeny tiny kitten that was abandoned on the side of the road. A vet tech found them and brought them to the office where we take Scout.

Mark had just been saying he has had a white cat, a grey cat, a black cat and now a beige cat, next cat should be an orange cat.
When we saw this little tiny one, Merry Christmas Daddy!

So far, Scout is not impressed with this fluff ball.  He is hissing at him, and growling. Hopefully it won't be more than that.
Scout is at my feet growling and Ranger is on my shoulder purring.
I am hopeful they will work it out.

Putting Up The Tree

Today was the perfect day to put up the tree!

Scout is so happy! He is thinking about what kind of mischief he can create

Lon sorts the ornaments

These are mine.  all mine. forever mine. Until I say otherwise.
These are the old magic ornaments that were plugged into a light string. Before LED lights.  I had an old light string, so Lon and I put them on it and put them on the mantel. Pictures will come once the mantel is all finished

Lon hangs up the unbreakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree.  We can hope that Scout will get bored with the whole idea of playing in the tree.
Once the tree is all finished I will post pictures.

Pancake Breakfast

Saturday was Lon's cub scout pancake breakfast.  This time it was actually a breakfast!

Munching on pancakes! You had a choice of bacon, turkey bacon or sausage. Lon got bacon !

Picking up his popcorn prize. For selling all that popcorn, Lon got a $60 dollar gift card. He can't wait to spend it!

Then we went downtown Summerville to the Holiday Market. Looks like everyone was shopping, even the characters from A Christmas Carol!

Another Scout Update!

Today I took Scout to visit the Vet.  This was a pre-op appointment for tomorrow's big day!

He is not amused at being in the carrier.
He went into it well enough, no big fights, but he was not pleased

After he had been weighed, he was free to explore the office
He weighs in at 5.15 pounds
They are thinking is about 4 months old.
He has permanent incisors but baby fangs. The vet was amused by that and kept saying baby fang!
They all thought he was beautiful. Well, cause he is.
Everything else checked out perfect, good heart, good lungs, pretty eyes, clear ears ! No other critters living on or in him.

There were all sorts of things to sniff

Is someone coming?
They were. They gave me the estimate on his surgery. Scheduled for tomorrow morning.
This will give him almost three weeks to recover before his bath! We want him to be clean and sparkly for Christmas!

Kids Tour at the Museum

I got an email from the Charleston Museum on Tuesday with a little blurb on a kids tour at 3:30 on Wednesday. I called and they had room. There were not many details. Just crafts being done.

We made great time to the museum, straight from school. Lon was burning off some energy in the courtyard

There were crafts, while they were fun, they were not historical.  More Oriental Trading than Colonial.
Lon enjoyed doing them.

Then we went upstairs to the Kidstory section, to decorate the Little Heywood Washington House.

Lon thought a wreath over the front door would look great
and it did

Since most of the kids were decorating the tree and the inside of the little house, Lon thought it would be a good idea to decorate outside.
They had a few adults who were in charge of tape.

Summerville Tree Lighting 2014

Tonight was the annual tree lighting !  As we did last year, we went to Lon's school first for the spaghetti dinner and cocoa and carols! It was really fun this year, now that we know more people!

The song sheets were passed out after dinner, and we started singing!
